Role of Magnesium in Rye Production
Magnesium is a vital constituent of the chlorophyll molecule.
It also activates many enzyme reactions whinin the plant and is needed for the movement of Phosphorus into and inside the plant. A proper level of magnesium will improve the crop establishment.
Deficiency
The main symptom of Magnesium deficiency is chlorosis, a yellowing between the veins of the leaf. The mobile nature of Magnesium in the plant, will give first a yellowing on the older leaves, as Magnesium is transported to support growth. Mg-deficiency is rare in rye.
