Magnesium deficiency-Olives

Symptoms
A chlorosis in the tips and margins of the leaves advances in the interveinal fields towards the leaf base. A green spot at the base of the leaf remains, sometimes in a triangle form along the midrib, but often more diffuse. Symptoms normally appear first in mature leaves.

Reasons
Magnesium deficiency Most common cause for magnesium deficiency is the competition at the soil exchange complex within potassium and calcium. Difficult to find in the field. In olives, symptoms may be confused with those created by either deficiency of Zn or Mn, both also difficult to find in olive orchards.
